Anarcho-Emotionalism

Anarcho-Emotionalism is a political and interpersonal framework that centres our emotions and emotional language as a means to connect with ourselves, with others, and with our shared environment.

My name is Siobhán Sarelle, I'm 51, transgender, neurodivergent, and a musician at heart. I have experienced trauma, and I've had plenty of experience in therapy, including some fairly rare, intensive group therapy.

The writing and concepts here are a work-in-progress (as am I!). I decided to start publicly writing more about my beliefs, ethics, morals, principles, and values.

I decided a while back that I'd like to try to find a way to encapsulate who I am, and what I believe in, but without adopting any existing ideology, religion, or political framework. There are many that I might 'fit in' with, but I hadn't found any that specifically champion the importance of emotions and emotional language. I decided I would give my ideological framework a name, and so I named it "Anarcho-Emotionalism".

You may find references to Anarcho-Emotionalism (or even without the hyphen) or "Emotional Anarchism" and other similar phrases, and that's okay. For this though, I will outline what being an Anarcho-Emotionalist means to me, and perhaps some of that might resonate with you in your own way!

I may start out being a bit messy with all of this, but I feel that's okay and fits well with my idea of Anarcho-Emotionalism, since one of the things I've learnt is to find ways to feel and show vulnerability, even to embrace my 'messiness' rather than to control it, which can result in detachment from my emotions and disconnection with others.

What is Anarcho-Emotionalism (to me)?
