Another visit to the hospital
SIOBHÀN’S FEED
Sunday, 6.30 am, having coffee in a pot noodle pot as mugs are downstairs and I am minimising trips. It’s fine.
The frost is at least, pretty, and the weather is going to be a sunny 9 degrees at some point. Hopefully will get a seat by the way with the sea in the background at the hospital.
My new electric essential oil diffuser is gently making a trickling sound as it fills the room with nice smells. Really makes a difference.
I managed to walk from the A & E entrance, up the corridor to the Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit, by myself. It was a struggle (leg muscles are also not happy) and I had to stop in a doorway for a while, but I made it. Good progress. Got into the EACU and decided to go a little extra distance to a window overlooking the coast and the sea.
Then I suddenly broke down in tears a little. A nurse asked me if I am okay, I told her I’ll be alright. Just needed a moment, felt like some relief in there but maybe a little grief with memories about visiting the sea.
A nurse came to do my cannula, I told her what happened the previous week with it taking 3 people to get it in.
She did it first time, I was very thankful and told her.
Now sitting having the infusion.
Home! Only 2 hours in the hospital this time. Relief still though to be back, and it’s sunny outside.
Now to take it extra easy for the rest of the day, know that I have done well, keep up with my self care, and treat myself a little. I might be able to make one more trip to the front door for some nice food to be delivered.
